Goodbye, Elie Wiesel...

Hey guys. Today, I would like to express my thoughts on Elie Wiesel, a Romanian-born American Jewish writer, professor, political activist, Holocaust survivor, and Nobel Laureate. It breaks my heart to think and say that as of Saturday, July 2nd, 2016, the man who wrote the powerful and inspiring book 'Night' is no longer physically with us. I was and still am so shocked and sad to hear of his passing. I vividly remember reading his book 'Night' a few months ago and becoming emotional during certain chapters. Reading about the deaths and experiences of the Jews as they were separated and taken to different concentration camps was so upsetting as well as scarring. If you've read the book, then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, then I would highly encourage you to read 'Night' because it really gives you insight into what life as a Jew was like and what really happened to them during the Holocaust. I know that this is a sad and depressing book to read, but if books like this didn't exist, we wouldn't know what truly happened. From the outside, we know that millions of Jews were annihilated, but we don't know what happened while in the concentration camps, and what thoughts and experiences they had. Even though events like the Holocaust shouldn't have happened, they should not be ignored and forgotten about. Instead, they should be used as lessons to not repeat this mistake again and to treat everyone with respect, regardless of who they are, where they're from and what they've done. Though I know he is in a better place, we all miss him dearly and he will always be in our hearts. R.I.P. Elie Wiesel. Thank you for everything you have done for the world, and thank you for reading.
